AMAP-ADS

AMAP™-ADS system working principle

Detection – Intercept

The efficiency and functionality of the system is derived from the intelligent interaction between the individual high-tech components. The zone around the vehicle is controlled by the system´s sensors. Due to the short reaction time, the system requires only a distance of 10-15 m to detect and defeat an incoming threat.

The Pre-Warners (PW - yellow zone) permanently monitor the environment around the platform. If a threat (rocket, missile or projectile) enters the zone, initial threat data is reported to the NFS/CPU.

If threat conditions (speed, geometry and probable impact point with the vehicle surface) are fulfilled, a defined array of the Electro Optical Sensors (EO - green zone) is activated and they finally identify the intruding threat.

Threat information from PW and EO has to be coherent in time and location. If these criteria are fulfilled, the NFS/CPU tasks the Laser Ignition Unit (LIU) to initiate one Countermeasure (CM - red zone) to destroy (or degrade the performance of) the threat.

The LIU energy is transferred to the CM via fibre optic. The CM is directed towards the confirmed threat. This sensor to shooter sequence is completed within microseconds, without errors and under operational conditions – in multi-hit scenarios, at full speed or in urban situations. AMAP-ADS is a high performance system with a wide range of mission capabilities.
