Active Defense System AMAP-ADS generating great Resonance at EUROSATORY 2008

02.07.2008

The high number of visitors on the IBD / ADS stand at EUROSATORY showing their interest in the Active Defense System AMAP™-ADS demonstrates the need for such a system as important part of a comprehensive protection system for vehicles.

Especially the numerous connections from military side revel the spread of cognition that AMAP™-ADS does not only constitute a significant and cost effective improvement of the vehicle protection. It also opens tactical advantages, particularly in urban environment.

Several international partners if IBD / ADS exhibited their vehicles with AMAP™-ADS mounted. Thereby the visitors could get an immediate impression about the possibilities to adapt the system to all kinds of platforms ranging from light to heavy vehicels.

AMAP-ADS - Successful Demonstration on the SEP-Platform

15.05.2008

ADS GmbH and BAE Systems Hägglunds have initiated a cooperation to integrate the Active Armor Concept (AAC), the Swedish version of AMAP-ADS, on the SEP platform. The design goal is to accomplish a highly mobile, light-weight and superiorly protected vehicle.

SEP with AAC/AMAP-ADS

The integrated concept was demonstrated on the 17th of April in Sweden and showed an excellent ability to withstand a typical urban warfare scenario in different aspects.

During the demonstration the following attacks were performed:

· Firing with 7.62 as an example of a non-threat (threat rejection)
· Firing with 2 RPG-7 at the same hit point as an example of multi-hit attacks

The attacks were launched at a distance of about 50 m which is typical for short range attacks in urban missions.

The key results can be summarized as follows:

· AMAP-ADS was not activated nor affected by the 7.62 firing
· Both RPG-7 were eliminated by adjacent countermeasures
· Personnel inside the vehicle was not affected
· Measurements inside and outside the vehicle showed that collateral effects were minimal and non-hazardous
In general it can be stated that AMAP-ADS can easily be integrated on various platforms - from light vehicles to heavy tanks. It forms an important part of the ballistic protection against large caliber weapons such as SCs, KEs, ATGMs and EFPs. The demonstration was a further proof of its effectiveness in defeating even multi attacks from short range.

ADS on various platforms

08.02.2008

October 2007

The Active Defence System (AMAP-ADS) has now been displayed on various platforms, which includes the following vehicles:

CV 90120 (tracked medium weight platform)
CV 9040 (tracked medium weight platform)
AMV (wheeled medium weight platform)
LMV (wheeled light weight platform)

This support the aim to accomplish a balanced Survivability Concept with high protection levels for the complete range (from Heavy to Light) of vehicles, based on the same concept - the AMAP-ADS.
